With the belief that a responsive and responsible student government is in the best position to represent students and provide them with as many opportunities as possible, the students of The American University of Paris established the student body constitution.
According to Article II of the Student Government Constitution, “the authorities and responsibilities” of the Student Government Association are to:
- coordinate, encourage and fund student group activities
- assist in the resolution of students’ grievances
- act as an advocate for students’ concerns
- ensure the fair distribution and correct use of all funds given to student clubs and organizations
- provide the opportunity for the expression of students’ opinion
- organize social and educational activities that cater to the diverse needs of the student body
- maintain student representation at all relevant University decision-making sessions
The constitution is maintained and revised by the Judiciary Committee based on recommendations of the student body, the student government, the committee, and faculty advisor(s). This document is the governing set of rules which outlines the responsibilities of the SGA and its members. It includes but is not limited to:
