The Web Communications Policy outlines the rules and regulations that govern the representation of The American University of Paris (AUP) to all internal and external audiences on the AUP website. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all communication that takes place on behalf of the University is done in a manner that is consistent with the University’s quality standards, branding and visual identity guidelines, editorial style guide and strategic positioning.

This policy outlines an effective and consistent process for the development, revision, and management of AUP policies. Accessible and carefully reviewed policies communicate AUP’s mission, promote efficiency, reduce risk, and encourage accountability.

As foreseen by French law, this document clarifies for all members of our community the expectations, rights, responsibilities and obligations of all employees of the institution. The exceptional diversity which is represented by AUP's ranks requires a high level of understanding and tolerance of the cultural specificities that both differentiate and unite us.

The strategic planning, budgeting and assessment process of AUP is part of an annual iterative cycle involving all departments of the University. In order to effectively assess and improve processes, all units must adhere to the schedule and produce the deliverables outlined in this policy in a timely fashion.

As the demand for classroom space grows, it is important that the process for requesting space be rational and transparent to ensure efficiency and fairness. This policy prevents event overlap, encourages coordination of events across campus, and helps increase the success of such events.

This policy articulates AUP’s guiding principle as an educational institution of defending free speech and condemning hate speech. As a private American institution located in France, AUP encourages, protects, and sustains the freedom of expression, offering the broadest possible latitude to both internal and external speakers within the limits of French and European law. Hate speech is antithetical to AUP’s core values and its prohibition extends to every corner of AUP’s campus, including online speech.

AUP is committed to creating fundraising opportunities that support the University’s mission and strategic ambitions. This policy articulates AUP guidelines and policies related to the solicitation and acceptance of charitable gifts by The American University of Paris and The American University of Paris Foundation.
